SPCA Adoption Event Saturday through Monday, January 16-18

Open your heart and home to a loving pet during The SPCA for Monterey County’s heartwarming adoption event January 16-18.  During the event, The SPCA will reduce the adoption fee on all dogs, cats, and rabbits six months and older.  The special rate for dogs will be $50, cats $25, and rabbits $5.  The SPCA for Monterey County is located at 1002 Highway 68, across from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  Adoption hours are 11-5 on weekdays and 11-4 on weekends.

Runners help Soledad Rec foot renovation tab

More than 50 participants took the Renovation Run challenge on Saturday, a 5- and 10-kilometer race whose proceeds will go toward the Soledad-Mission Recreation District's Renovation Project.  The Soledad pool recently underwent some remodeling; plans for the second phase of the project are to renovate the pool lobby and locker rooms.  The Pool reopens on February 1st.

Monterey Peninsula Volunteer Services awarded December grants to the following: Food Bank for Monterey County, $4,000; Alzheimer's Association, Interim Inc., $3,000 each; Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Operation Christmas Cheer, Visiting Nurse Association, $2,000 each; Rice Plus Project $1,500; First Night $1,000; Adopt-a-nurse, Dare to Dream $500 each.
